Description
The Porsche 911 GT Series was introduced in 1993 and built to satisfy the FIA GT2 Class Championship homologation criteria. It was based on the Turbo and featured a series of power output, brake and suspension upgrades as well as significant curb weight reduction via rear wheel drive layout and minimum interior components. In the 997 series, the achieved 10. 4% horsepower and 9. 6% torque gain over a 9. 1% weight reduction rendered the GT2 as the fastest 911 in production with 0-300 km/ h in just 37s versus the Turbo's 55. 9s and a top speed of 329 km/ h. Moreover the Variable Geometry Turbo technology permitted for steady maximal torque delivery from 2200 rpm all the way to 4500 rpm. Notably, in 2008 Walter Rohrl completed a full lap of Nurburgring Nordschleife on a public day in just 7min 31s. The 997 GT2 was produced in only 1242 units over 3 years and constitutes a most thoroughbred breed for being the very last in the GT series built with manual transmission.
The 997 GT2 offered was specially ordered to Porsche in Meteor Grey with a series of options and delivered on June 2008. Since new it has been stored in a climate controlled garage as part of a private Porsche collection with minimal operation for optimum maintenance. With only 1120 km and uncompromised condition throughout, this 997 GT2 constitutes a superb acquisition as part of any superior Porsche collection.
