Matching Numbers Jaguar E-Type Series 1 – 4. 2 Litre (2+2) Coupe

Price: €79, 995 Year: 1966 Miles: 75, 972 miles

History File – This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4. 2 Litre (2+2) coupe Left Hand Drive, was manufactured on 30th March 1966 and originally dispatched to the United States on 22 April 1966 to Jaguar Cars New York, with the first owner entry listed as Mr Paul Vinson. It would return to Europe and specifically Germany in 1987, where it would remain with the importing purchaser as a 1 owner entry on the German documentation before being sold to a private collector in 2018 who used the car on personal trade plates. In January 2016 the car was fully tested and achieved a Historical registration certificate. In August 2017 Jaguar Heritage Trust printed a Production Record Trace Certificate number 49826 confirming – in accordance with the cars current numbers - the vehicle is still a matching numbers example. Classic Analytics completed a valuation and inspection report in September 2018 with an insurance valuation on the vehicle of €89. 400. In May 2021 the car passed the stringent German roadworthiness TÜV test, valid for two years.

Exterior – Heritage have confirmed that the car departed Browns Lane in 1966 with an exterior finish of Opalescent Golden Sand. At some stage in the cars American status, it was re-painted (as was the fashion at the time) and changed to Jaguar red. The second German owner was keen to change the car back to its original livery that we see today. The finish is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, and we would always recommend viewing in person but, all in all, it’s still a good example and well within the cars offered price bracket.

Interior - Jaguar named this particular interior trim colour simply “Tan”. Incredibly, what we see today is still the original leather that left the factory in 1966 and now displays a wonderful patina. However, we have now decided to completely renew the cars interior and it is currently undergoing a full refit but keeping to the cars original factory colours.

Engine & Transmission – For the purpose of transparency we list the cars numbers currently on the car and as confirmed by the provided Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate as it left the factory in 1966: Chassis number - 1E 75283 BW Engine number – 7E 50375 Body number – 4E 50315 Gearbox number – EJ 11737

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes - The standard wheels have been replaced by more modern style, wider wires giving the car an altogether much better stance. Quality Vredestein Sprint Classic – 205/ 70 VR 15 96V - tyres cover the four corners with plenty of healthy tread. Brakes were recently overhauled and pull the car up nicely, commensurate for the period.
