EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES: An original Series 1 4. 2-litre 2+2 coupe, this E-Type original factory colour was primrose yellow. The decision was made by the owners of the classic car company to treat this Jaguar to a no-expense-spared restoration and upgrade programme. With all of the main build undertaken by Bridge Classic Cars. The bodywork was totally refurbished, and rebuilt with new metal hand-crafted to be far sleeker than the standard factory panels, improving the lines of the car by de-seamed in areas where chrome would normally mask a join. For this reason, extra reinforcement was also added behind these panels. A significant amount of time was invested in fabricating and aligning the clamshell bonnet - including new headlight diaphragms - as this is a feature that can ruin a rebuild from the start if executed poorly. The wheel arches were also restored with new panels. Repairs were made inside the bulkhead with new metal professionally welded in place, and fully sealed. Following the body restoration, it was totally repainted in a vibrant and contemporary Volcano Orange with a black stripe, it has a silver base coat and ‘diamond burst’ metallic finishing. Mechanically, this E-Type benefits from a newly rebuilt 4. 2-litre straight-six engine, by Scholar Engines, incorporating reconditioning and replacing main bearings and big end bearings, pistons, valves, cam buckets, valve guides and springs, head gasket, timing chain, oil pump, core plugs, spark plugs, coil, and ignition leads. Its lightened flywheel, the engine was also subject to an FC288 oil filter conversion, rear seals conversion, and unleaded petrol conversion ready for E5 or the new E10 fuel. Teh cam covers and breather were polished, and the dyno was stripped and rebuilt. The 4. 2-litre straight-six engine was also fitted with upgraded Weber carburettors, and an aluminium radiator and electric fans fitted. During dynamometer testing it was delivering 250bhp. Further enhancing the ‘seamless’ silhouette, the exhaust pipes now exit below the driver’s side sill, and there is a rear central filler for the fuel tank. The side and rear windows are all acrylic to racing specifications stronger than glass. Its rear axle now features a rebuilt Jaguar 3. 07:1 differential, adjustable GAZ shock absorbers, improved and revised springs, along with new poly-bush joints on the front and rear. Also there are upgraded rear brake callipers and discs; while the new front brakes now have four-pot callipers and crossed and drilled discs, and new braided hoses. Its has a new five speed gearbox, which was stripped and completely refurbished as part of the restoration programme. The steel elements were sandblasted while the alloy casings were aqua-blasted. All bearings were renewed, along with the baulk rings and selector forks. It was also re-shimmed, and finished with new gaskets and seals now better than new. The wheels are period-correct Dunlop magnesium DCM wheels with three-eared knock-off spinners, and shod in Michelin XWX tyres. as used at Le Mans, Private sale. thank you.
