Description
What a really honest car this is. Purchased new from Wadham Stringer in Haywards Heath in 1974 is this Triumph 1500TC finished in Honeysuckle with Chestnut trim. The local gentleman who bought it, kept it for an incredible 37 years before it was sold to its 2nd owner whom we purchased it from. It even still retains its factory plastic covers on door panels. It comes with a lovely history file including the original purchase invoice for £1538. 09 which included £46. 00 for ziebarting. There are original sales brochures, handbooks, factory workshop manual, lots of tax discs dating back to 1975, also many mots from new which verify the displayed mileage of just over 52000. Also invoices for servicing and repairs. The mots show a period of storage between 2000 and 2012 when it only covered 100 miles. So back to the car itself. The ziebarting from new has clearly done its job as it appears structurally good. Now it is not perfect and the following would benefit from attention. The engine bay is generally grubby and has been ziebarted, so would need a really good clean and detailing. There is some bubbling at bottom of rear doors. Bottom of front wings have corrosion (although not obvious without getting to a lower level). This would be a fairly easy repair as its right at the bottom. Drivers seat material has split (it looks like it may of had some sun on it). There is a slight gearbox whine in 3rd gear (i remember this as quite common on these). Other than these items its very tidy. We have just fitted a new battery and put it through an mot, which it passed without any advisories, so its now ready to use. This is a really genuine car with lovely history. It does require some improvements but they dont come up often like this. We welcome any inspection or we can send additional pictures on request.
