This Bristol 400, first registered in 1949, remained with the first family until 1977.
A new owner bought the car in 2013 with the declared intention of entering the Mille Miglia Retrospective.. He sent the car to IN Racing in Nottingham who proceeded to undertake a “no expense-spared” restoration, invoices on the file totalling over £140, 000. The work included a new engine block and recondition head, a close ratio gearbox plus overdrive, a new wiring loom, an uprated suspension and a full body repaint. The interior was trimmed in leather to the correct two tone spec for a Bristol 400. The car is truly beautiful and a delight to drive, powerful and handling very well due to the up-rated suspension. The quantity of work done and the quality of the whole restoration is very apparent upon inspection!
In 2016 FIVA papers were issued and a place granted in the Mille Miglia that same year. The car completed the event without issue. The car was then entered for the Mille Miglia in 2020, with fresh FIVA papers, but the event was cancelled due to the Covid restrictions.
It is now ready and eligible for the many rallies organised by Rally The Globe, Hero/ ERA or the new VSCC Historic class, or can simply be used by a new owner as a quite delightful and effective road car.
