We are very proud and fortunate to have yet another absolutely stunning, fully restored Triumph X75 Factory Hurricane for sale. This beautiful January 1973 matching numbers example, has been restored regardless of cost. This included a full re-paint, re chromed and re spoked wheels and every item on the bike either restored or replaced. It now stands blemish free showing 5, 147 miles and comes with the Trident and Rocket 3 owners club certificate verifying the bikes authenticity. The certificate states the bike was built by the Meridian factory on the 9th January and dispatched to Morgan and Wacker in Australia on the 23rd January 1973.
The Triumph X-75 Hurricane was a 'factory special' motorcycle designed by fairing specialist Craig Vetter and had the swooping glass fibre bodywork, lowered gearing and a distinctive triple exhaust on the right-hand side. The motorcycle is credited with creating a new class of motorcycle, the cruiser. Vetter created the Triumph Hurricane in 1969 and unveiled the prototype with "BSA" on the tank as the new ‘Rocket Three. The bike was then sent to the UK, but arrived in England just as the BSA marque was about to be ended. At BSA-Triumph's design facility at Umberslade Hall, Engineer Steve Mettam was given the job of supervising production for the 1972/ 3 season; and the Vetter BSA Rocket 3 became the Triumph X75 Hurricane. With BSA facing bankruptcy the design went into a limited production run of 1200 as the Triumph X-75 Hurricane in 1972 with production stopped in 1973.
