Description
* Price now lowered as need my space back fairly soon*
Selling my BMW 2002 E39 5 series in the best spec - 530i M sport. Low mileage of 99, 3XX (increasing incrementally by about 20 miles a week due to use for local journeys). Desirable colour combo of titan silver and black leather interior with silver trim. Equipped with immaculate 18 inch stripped and polished staggered M parallels and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (these have previously been worked to a mirror shine and are going for 1. 5-2k - so please do factor this into the price vs other cars…).
I won't go into too much detail about how difficult it's becoming to find strong, well specified examples of these cars, but unsurprisingly people tend to hold on to them. However, my loss here is your gain: I bought this car earlier this year when it became clear I would be doing a lot more long motorway journeys and my 190E would no longer suffice. These circumstances have now changed and it is pointless for me to hold on to this car to cruise around North/ East London in 20mph zones.
Car was very highly specified from new when supplied by Sytner Harold Wood, including Black leather interior, satellite navigation, 6 disc CD changer, TV (!), handsfree integration, angel eye xenon headlamps, parking sensors front and rear etc. etc. etc. It has clearly been very well cared for since, as will be apparent from any inspection.
It retains all 3 original keys. The extensive history file includes invoices evidencing expenditure of just under £15, 000, which does not include £1, 500 of recent pre-emptive work I've just had done on gearbox/ cooling system and replacing suspension components.
Bodywork is excellent - there are some stone chips to the bonnet and front bumper area, together with minor scuffing to some of the exterior plastic trim pieces, but nothing that an afternoon of detailing/ micro dent removal wouldn't address. I have recently noticed a scratch on the roof (only visible from certain angles) which must have been from a car wash. I imagine this can be buffed/ detailed out. There is nothing else worth remarking upon - car is incredibly straight and all arches etc. totally solid. It has obviously never been welded.
Interior looks amazing, clearly very well looked after. (my photos are with flash which are obviously showing up much which would not be visible to the naked eye) Minimal wear to bolster (see photos - again, flash shows more than you would actually see). Headlining immaculate. Back seats virtually immaculate. Boot immaculate. Some minor wear to trim pieces and mats as you would expect, but overall excellent. Head unit and CD changer functioning perfectly (radio module was sent for specialist refurb by prior owner earlier this year).
Structurally car is rock solid. No rust in any of the usual areas, or indeed any area. Rock solid underneath. Engine bay very clean.
Couple of minor points (standard E39 stuff) to make car perfect:
- there is one small area of isolated paint bubbling on one of the driver rear shadowline window trims (this can be removed, sanded and repainted, I've spoken to body shops). A photo of this is attached.
- usual dash pixel issue (£100 to fix - was planning to do before next MOT to avoid an 'unreadable' appearing on the MOT history)
- rear parking sensors a bit hyperactive on occasion (these are readily available and an easy replacement).
Any inspection welcomed and happy to send further photos or videos on request. Based in London N16. HPI is clear and car comes with an advisory-free MOT to February 2023.
