Description
1982 Jaguar XJS 4. 2L Manual
This metallic Bronze XJS first started life off as a v12 HE model that would have been mated to an automatic transmission, in the mid 90's it was converted to 4. 2l 6 cylinder XK engine that are used in the MK2, E-types and early XJ6's, looking it the rocker covers and the carb set up i would think the engine come from a early XJ6. The gearbox was also converted from auto to manual 5 speed transmission, i believe this to be the Getrag 265 gearbox that was used in the 3. 6 XJ/ XJS. The combination makes a great driving experience and a unique vehicle, would make a great Historic race car as its 40 years old this year. The engine conversion has been undated with DVLA and is stated as a XJS 4. 2l on the logbook.
82, 400 miles
First registered 20. 08. 1982, making the vehicle Historic next moth, then benefiting from mot/ tax exemption. Currently mot'd til march 2023.
A very solid car on the body and underneath, would benefit from some cosmedic improvements if you wished but starts and drives very well. The interior is very good apart from the headlining that needs replacing.
