Always fancied a vintage motor but don’t want to do a load of work, “the one who must be obeyed” won’t sit on worn out, saggy, cracked and torn seats, not got a massive budget but don’t want to look like you’ve just come from Steptoe’s yard, read on and discover the delights of this little gem …
Well presented, all working as intended and most importantly great fun, 1933 Austin Seven with huge and interesting history file, it has the most immaculate interior we’ve seen in a car of this period, its ready to admire and enjoy and you won’t need a re-mortgage to buy it.
The pictures say it all, the car has massive amounts of charm, it’s the more desirable chrome radiator model in great running order it does everything it should do. You can’t drive it down the road without a grin on your face, a smile every mile guaranteed and in the current warm weather with the screen tilted, windows down and sunroof open its as good as any convertible.
It goes really well, no untoward bangs, clangs or rattles as you travel, very steady at speed with no steering wheel wander or wag, gears select easily with a nice sharp clutch, 4 speed gearbox, brakes work well (see video), good handbrake, the lights work and modern indicators have been fitted as well as the original traffictors.
The history file is immense with several well-known names popping up including Jackie Stewart, Bonhams, Stagecoach and Grampian TV there are invoices for hundreds of pounds of parts and service over the years, old MOT’s and I think there’s a copy of every logbook from new, lots of period photos and some old slides, all in the large file. We have the current modern logbook, HPI all clear printout and it’s still got the correct number plate as issued new on the 30th Dec 1933 in Oxfordshire.
It presents well enough and will be admired wherever you go, paint finish is suited to the car, it’s not immaculate, has a little age, close inspection will find the odd blemish and imperfection, it’s smart enough to enjoy and easy enough to improve if desired, mechanical all good but overall it’s not concours, but its not 15 grand either.
Have some fun with your savings, you bank manager isn’t doing you any favours with your boring ISA, tick the box off your bucket list and own a vintage car, won’t be worth any less when you’ve had your enjoyment.
We will happily create an instructional video for any buyer not familiar with these types of cars, nothing complicated, back to basics simple stuff and immense good fun, a few pointers always handy and we are happy to advise and instruct if required.
