This 404 Familiale is the seven/ eight seater version with a petrol engine and four speed column gearchange. According to the Certificat de Naissance, this particular car is a Limousine Familiale Grand Luxe to give it its full title. There are spacious comfortable seats front and back, and the Peugeot feels ready for adventures.
It is straightforward to drive and keeps up with modern traffic easily. The interior is lovely and clean and it is very easy to get to third row of seats, which fold forward to give a large boot space should you prefer. There is a wonderful period roofrack fitted, and the original radio is still place (we're not sure how efficient it is though)
It's also fantastically cool.
There are not many 404 Estates left, most having been driven in to the ground, but this car is very smart and presents well.
