VW Golf Mk1 1. 8 Cabriolet Clipper, in the one and only Alpine white, with period tartan interior. Unmistakable styling courtesy of Giugiaro, the Clipper was easily recognisable by its factory wide arches, bigger bumper and body kit. The long standing collaboration that VW held with Karmann, as proudly branded on each front wing, is a subtle reminder of the convertible production quality of the period.
SPECIFICATION
Every effort has been made to maintain this Clipper as factory original. Both keys are present, as is the original tool kit. An immobiliser has been installed for added security and an upgraded Pioneer media player with Bluetooth functionality for a touch of modern day comfort.
BACKGROUND
A late registered 1990 vehicle with a warranted mileage of 112, 752miles, is these days modest when compared to the majority of Golf’s of this era, although taking one look around the Clipper and you wouldn’t have put it over 12k miles. Recent ownership indicates a level of care for this vehicle that most buyers could only pray for, cleaned fastidiously, started weekly and always stored in his heated garage. The original owners handbook and service book are both present, accompanied by a raft of documented maintenance throughout its life.
MECHANICAL
As a motoring enthusiast there is nothing quite as satisfying that the site of an immaculately clean engine bay. It oozes confidence in prospective buyers that no expense has been spared in maintaining the heart and soul of a classic. Open the bonnet on this Clipper and what you see can only be described as immaculate. The 90bhp 1. 8 pulls well on the road, complimented by the 5 speed manual gearbox. A full stainless steel exhaust delivers a hearty exhaust note that is so easily associated with the Golf.
EXTERIOR
The paintwork on this vehicle is as perfect as the day if left the factory. The shell was resprayed 7 years ago with the body kit fully removed. Images of the work undertaken are included and compliment how solid and rust free the vehicle has remained throughout its life. The underside is spotless and was wax oiled shortly after the exterior works. The vehicle has factory wheels with nearly new tyres fitted.
INTERIOR
The beautiful interior carpets, dash and door trims are all immaculate. The original period check seats show hardly any signs of wear and the rears looking as though they’ve never been sat in. The mohair roof is in excellent condition and electrics work as intended.
Probably one of, if not the best Clipper on the market today and a classic that we believe will only appreciate in time. This is an absolute bargain at £9495!
