TTU 993H was supplied by us to the last owner back in 2016 and returns to us having covered several thousand miles of touring and fine weather driving. This excellent driving, very well presented Series II FHC was manufactured on the 13th October 1969 leaving the factory in the colour combination as presented today, Silver with Red trim. The E-Type still retains its original, correct engine, a matching numbers car that was distributed out of British Leyland New York on 13th November 1969.
The E-Type spent its early life in the USA and throughout the late 1980's and 1990's the car had one owner who was working for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) moving all over the US throughout his ownership and often working overseas. Florida Vehicle Registration Certificates accompany the car and confirm its long-term owner resided at the famous Naval Air Station Miramar for two years, also well known for being the real Top Gun flight school made famous by the 1986 movie. Once leaving Miramar, the car was registered at Public Square in Columbia, Kentucky and then two addresses in Rhode Island.
By 2015 the E-Type was for sale in California and was imported into the UK and registered TTU 993H. The car was converted onto UK spec triple carbs and shortly after purchase the E-Type was offered to us, and we began marketing the car. The E-Type arrived with us with an excellent strong engine holding impressive oil pressure, lovely four speed gearbox and was generally very sound and very original in many respects. We sold the E-Type to a customer who then commissioned us to convert the E-Type to RHD, carry out some basic mechanical work to include new coolant hoses, front and rear brake pads, ball joint gaiters, new shock absorbers, anti-roll bar links, starter motor, rebuilt carbs, new engine mounts and new radius arm bushes and anti-roll bar links.
With the E-Type mechanically excellent, we then carried out a complete re-spray in the cars original colour, taking care of any minor corrosion once the paint was stripped down. Photos and invoices for the work carried out are with the car, totalling over £20, 000 in 2016/ 2017. Since supplying the car, a further £10, 000 has been spent and improvements/ maintenance include new stainless wire wheels and tyres, new carpets, various interior trim improvements, new front and rear brake hoses, brake servo, poly bushed steering, new clutch master cylinder and re-conditioned time clock. The Jaguar now returns having covered several thousand miles and is absolutely on the button, driving superbly with a stunning, straight bodyshell with gleaming Silver paintwork, smart chrome and a lovely deep Red upholstery. TTU 993H is a very sensibly priced, gorgeous looking SII FHC that will offer its next owner lots of enjoyable motoring for many years to come.
