***** DEPOSIT TAKEN***** LOTUS ELITE MK14 1962 S2 UK RHD CAR FULLY STRIPPED FOR REBUILD WITH THE BENEFIT OF A FULLY RESTORED BODY SHELL - CHASSIS NO. 1529 KNOWN TO REGISTER
The current owner was intending to rebuild this Elite to a very high specification and it was his starting point to have the body shell fully restored by a well known, possibly the best restorer of Elite body shells. The body shell has had a fully comprehensive rebuild including all outer skin with the correct internal ‘micro balloons’. The original sub frame was removed, repaired and galvanised, sub frame rejigged and fitted into shell. Now making the shell the best starting point. This is a very expensive exercise.
The car is basically complete but the important part of the car has been rebuilt or restored. The engine has been rebuilt to 1480 cc to full FWB specification with steel bottom end - Carrello pistons, steel crank, steel rods, new cam shaft and all parts were supplied by Glyn Peacock Supplies, brand new MGA close ratio gearbox Brown & Gammon Supplies, diff fully rebuilt, new steering rack, new steering arms etc.
The most important consideration of Elite project restorations is the monocoque body shell because once the body shell has been restored it is just a straight forward assembly job. The body shell needs a minimum amount of work to finish and can then be repainted and refitted.
This is an opportunity to fill one’s goal of building the best Elite in own colour and specification. Over £80K has been spent on the purchase of the car and the repair and restoration of the shell and other parts. Great value for money and a super opportunity.
