We are very pleased to offer the very rare and iconic Austin Mini Clubman 1275 GT. Early examples of these fantastic machines are seldom seem and have reached a high status amongst not just Classic Mini enthusiasts but across the Classic car scene and rightly so. GT's are excellent fun to drive and they offer a real slice of Seventies motoring whilst being very useable at the same time. Our stunning 1970 example is finished in one of the best colours from the era, Teal blue with contrasting silver stripes and the sexy ten inch Rostyle wheels with new Yokohama GT special tyres. Registered new by Wadham Stringer in Hailsham this correct example has all of its original numbers including the commission number, front panel tag, FE number and heritage certificate, all very important when choosing an early GT. Restored to a very high standard around five years ago and settled nicely with a nice period look.
On the road is where the fun starts. This Mini is awesome to drive and I can vouch for that as I have been using this Mini. The original 1275 engine is super smooth and it delivers impressive power throughout the rev band with a smooth and precise gearbox. This GT really flies and will make you smile as much as it has me, it keeps up with pretty much everything in its path! Early examples were fitted with Cooper S disc brakes and a servo giving you lots of confidence on the twisty stuff and the original Hydrolastic suspension offers a comfortable ride especially on todays road. Twin tanks also mean its ready for some long distance driving and you will be constantly smiling the whole time, not to mention how popular you will become as everyone loves a 1275 GT and will want to talk about it.
The interior is beautifully presented and has a very period feel and is correct with those very sporty basket weave seats with matching door cards and the original roof liner, basic and purposeful, The three clock binnacle with a 120 MPH speedo which indicates its intentions given the chance and the original three spoke steering wheel, being an early example it also has the push button screen wash and ignition key on the switch panel and correct steering column.
As you can see form the pics, this GT has fantastic looks, the paintwork is gleaming and virtually blemish free and belies its 55 year vintage. It has a wonderful shell with the correct vented sills, body coloured floor pans, inner arches and detailed boot floor and engine bay. During the restoration all of the running gear was replaced and it all still looks new. It has all of its original early GT features and has been an absolute pleasure to prepare. Easily show standard but certainly not a trailer queen, this ones a driver.
We have fully serviced, checked, tuned and driven this GT and it has a full no advisory MOT. It is of course registered as historic and is MOT and Tax exempt. It is ready to go and be enjoyed.
