One of just 2, 591 examples produced, this supreme example is likely to be the lowest mileage, most original in existence. Gifted new by a company director to a female employee, it was sparingly driven in the early years, then stored until the director (by then retired) received it back in her will. It was later sold by Nutley Sports and Prestige to a collector enthusiast who spent a considerable sum having the car carefully bare metal repainted 8 years ago only due to inevitable flaws with the aged ‘BL quality’ paintwork and not due to corrosion (we saw the car before it was painted). The finish was fastidiously matched to areas in the shuts, boot and under the bonnet, and having now lost the just-painted gloss and mellowed slightly, the entire car looks no different to how a cherished MG looked in the early 70’s. The period, fabric upholstery is close to perfect, and factory markings are still in evidence in hidden areas as if applied yesterday! The car has been driven in fair weather periodically, and mainly for longer journeys, and is like stepping back in time considering the astonishing mileage which is just 12, 000! Yes, 12, 000! Pre-trashed rebuilds- regardless of how shiny they look or how much has been spent, cannot compare with an utterly correct, non-abused example, and this BGT V8 is unique- there simply isn’t ‘another one to go and see.’ Finished in Harvest Gold with Black upholstery, and supplied new with optional overdrive and chrome pressed wheels.
