Direct from long term ownership this is a very usable practical classic you can drive away and enjoy today, it drives spot on, its totally solid underneath and has been uprated to keep up with modern traffic.
In the careful ownership of a doctor since 2007 the car has been cherished over the years as part of a larger collection and for a period used as a daily driver visiting patients and to make it more usable its fitted with a 1622cc MGA engine, MBG front brake discs and callipers and a 5 speed gearbox. It was extensively restored at the turn of the century with all the work documented in many photographs in the large history file.
Before we carry on, please, please, please ask to see the YouTube video, it shows everything including the underside, it’s probably the best demonstrated MG Magnette on the market, nothing hidden, nothing to hide.
Starts and runs well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops very well (see video) and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness at the steering wheel, if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit.
The interior is a luxurious delight, very well finished, original and unmolested dashboard which slightly shows its age, all the switches, gauges and clocks are working, period front seat belts, a lovely place to enter and get comfy for some motoring adventures.
All the doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock with the same key, the windows wind down, the quarter light vents twist, the side lights, head lights and horn, wiper, washers all work, it also has a period look digital radio fitted which works very well.
The paintwork is very presentable and needs no immediate attention, there are imperfection that will be found on just about every panel, again see the video as we highlight these in detail. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged but all fine. It’s totally solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, again these are all shown in our video.
We have the current logbook, some older logbooks and the original buff logbook, current (unconfirmed) recorded mileage is 80368 and the car is TAX and MOT exempt, it is also exempt from charges in all the UK low emission zones including ULEZ. The car is running a matching set of Goodyear tyres with nearly new tread, on wire spoke wheels, with a good spare wheel in the boot.
As with any classic car it has it’s imperfections, there’s a small hole in the headlining behind the drivers un visors and several areas of the paint are deteriorating, the body is solid and we have show a magnet test in our video, we are not selling perfection, we are selling a very useable and solid MG Magnette in great running order at very sensible money, even the £12k ones on offer will have flaws somewhere if you look long enough.
There will be a few of Magnette’s to pick from, you simply will not find another this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK for £1 per road mile (it will not be delivered by crow), one way from Carlisle, please ask for a price.

All viewings are exclusively by timed APPOINTMENT ONLY, we do not have a showroom or display area, items may have to be brought from our secure storage to view and advance notice will be required.
