Description

This is a car we sold in April of 2019, which has come back to us following the sad passing of its last owner. Incredibly, it has done just 70 miles since we previously prepared and supplied it. Following a brief test drive in the morning of its arrival, all that is required is a recommissioning of brakes and hydraulics as well as a good service after its period of long-term storage.
Our UK supplied CP chassis number Triumph TR6 150BHP car was supplied new by Stevenson Motors Ltd, London Road, Tunbridge Wells to a C Holmes Esq of Hawkhurst in Kent. The car was sold new on the 17th June 1972 and the original passport to service booklet is still with the car confirming the car had nine services in its first three years. Details in the originally supplied documentation also confirms this is a matching numbers car still with its originally supplied engine.

EKK 304K had been with its previous owner in Leeds since 2009 and over the ten years of their ownership had covered over 8000 miles. The TR6 had been used for some overseas European touring and in order to ensure complete reliability, had been superbly well maintained. Invoices with the owner total around £4500 and work included new injectors, new HT leads, regularly replaced service items, electronic ignition, new fuel pump, re-conditioned heater, rebuilt cylinder head and new rear bumper.

From 2000-2009 the TR6 was in Sussex and this owner spent a considerable amount having the TR6 restored. The bodywork was restored as required with new floor pans and outriggers, the car painted including the engine bay and the upholstery re-trimmed as required to include a new dashboard, handles, winders and various trim panels.

Mechanically the TR6 was treated to a re-conditioned steering rack, track rod ends, bushes, Koni shocks, aluminium fuel tank, new starter motor, ignition barrel, new engine bay wiring loom, new sports exhaust system, new brake pads, brake discs, rear brake shoes, rebuilt brake calipers, new clutch, slave and master cylinder, uprated radiator, oil cooler and all new coolant hoses. The engine was also stripped, rebuilt and treated to new piston rings, main and big end bearing shells, uprated timing chain set, unleaded cylinder head, new uprated camshaft, new cam followers, core plugs and new oil pump. Whilst the engine and gearbox were removed, the gearbox was stripped and treated to new first and second gear hub and all new synchro's.

Having had thousands of pounds spent on a thorough mechanical restoration, it's no surprise this TR6 drove superbly and has regularly toured without hesitation. The engine is fabulous and completely smooth with impressive performance and exceptional oil pressure. The TR6 feels quick, responsive and in the two weeks prior to coming into stock, drove to us faultlessly from Leeds on two occasions. This is a real driver's car and its fantastic fun and importantly, proven reliability. EKK 304K has a very smart, tidy well-presented interior, very good hood, bright chrome work, clean well-presented engine bay and having been treated to new floor pans when restored, has a clean, structurally excellent underside. The body has nice straight panels; the older paintwork is of a very good standard and has no serious corrosion issues. This isn't a show car, it's a long-distance touring TR6 but the minor blemishes and imperfections on paintwork do not detract from what is a really strong, honest car that is ready to tour Europe as the previous owners have enjoyed.

This is an excellent value, matching numbers UK 150BHP car with overdrive that following its refresh will be an outstanding British classic.
