Here we have a 1996 TVR Chimaera 400 that has been laid-up since 2008! Purchased by its last owner in 2003, much time and attention had been lavished on the car up until circumstances led to the car being mothballed. We have rescued the car and carried out a re-commissioning process to make the car both usable and road-worthy. The chassis was generally ok although the outriggers were quite scruffy! We have de-scaled them, rubbed them down and painted them before waxoyling to preserve them. In a few years time they will need replacing, the suspension arms, brake discs, fuel lines, and other 'perishables' have been replaced as necessary along with the Bilstein dampers and tyres. So now we have a Chimaera that starts, stops, and has an MOT rendering as a usable, rolling restoration type car for someone who is both enthusiastic and handy! It could really now do with the lower dash veneer panel replacing, and the carpets are no longer in the first flush of youth.
There is an appreciable amount of history with the car prior to being laid up, 18 stamps in the service book, and a file of previous invoices, MOT certificates, etc. The car does have power steering along with the later type 'serpentine' engine and the T5 gearbox.
