1939 Delahaye 135C Competition Roadster.

This magnificent Delahaye 135C was reconstructed in Argentina by Rodolfo Iriarte for use in circuit racing in South America from the remains of chassis number 833049. Indeed we have pictures from the 1980's of him in the car at the Circuit de Buenos Aires.
The car is in as new condition & is absolutely beautiful. The engine is a triple Carb 3. 5 litre pre-war Delahaye unit allied to a 4- speed manual box. The bodywork sculpted from Aluminium is a faithful copy of an original. The suspension is also correct to the original with a transverse leaf spring to the front.
Part of a small Spanish collection; the car has been used only once or twice a year at a local race track that has been privately rented for the day. The powerful engine allied to minimalist bodywork makes for an exhilarating driving experience.
The car has raced in South America & comes to us with a FIVA passport first issued in June of 2005.

The car is a magical & visceral experience to drive. It is of course very light & extremely fast by pre-war standards. The gear box is easy to change & the steering light precise & direct. The straight through exhaust has a raucous bark to it imparting a feeling of extreme urgency when under load.
We have freshly serviced the car so it is absolutely ready to drive down to Good Wood, or alternatively, flog up the hill at Prescott or similar. It is hugely stylish & garners significant attention wherever it goes.
