Description
Launched in 1962 the Daimler 250 V8 was the first Jaguar designed car to carry the Daimler name. The car was essentially a re-badged Jaguar Mk 2 fitted with Edward Turners lightweight 2. 5 litre V8 that had proved so successful in the Daimler SP250 (Dart). The car was an instant success mixing Daimler V8 performance and comfort with the classic William Lyons Mk2 styling.
Our Daimler spent most of it life with the same owner, a local anaesthetist, before being sold in 2008 after a period of time in storage. The car has now had 5 owners, covered just over 60, 000 and been maintained regardless of cost all of its life.
The Daimler is rust free with no evidence of welding or repairs. The engines fires up instantly with a V8 growl and the extremely rare manual/ overdrive gear box option is a real pleasure to use and makes this a real driver’s car.
The Ascot Fawn body work is stunning and works extremely well with the black wire wheels and chrome, all in exceptional condition. The original light hide interior is accompanied by excellent wood, unmarked headlining and replacement carpets – it really is like stepping back in time.
For many years these cars have been undervalued but are now recognised to be in many respects superior to their Mk2 Jaguar cousin – a 1960 gentlemen’s express ideal for road trips across France or simply lunch at the local pub.
We urge early viewing in order to avoid disappointment.
