Service History and background

This Daimler has had a full an extremely comprehensive inspection completed including mechanical and electrical work to future proof this beautiful Daimler for the next keeper detailed below with an expenditure very recently of £6000

Originally Serviced by Swain & Jones Ltd Jaguar Main Dealer of Fareham who were the supplying Jaguar Main Dealer until December 2014, Swain & Jones closed permanently in April 2015
It then moved to Sunningdale Motors Ltd, Rolls Royce Specialist from 2016 for a short time.

DPS Coachworks who then serviced the car confirmed knowing the Daimler as their customers, husband and wife owned the car from new.
They had conversations in relation to the cars history and its servicing over the years discussing where it had been looked after, which is very typical of the older generation especially when passionate about their car.

It covered very little mileage during their ownership and in later years it only had a drive out to the MOT station but was still serviced every year.

Continuously stored in a heated garage in West London for 32 years and 10 months with the first owner from new, and due to this correct dry storage E202 FPK has remained in solid excellent condition.

Remarkably it has never been welded or suffered from underside corrosion and is still wearing its original factory under-seal from new which is quite incredible.

Sold to its second keeper (3rd on V5 as it was registered to Husband and then wife of the first owners) A Jaguar enthusiast in 2020 and featured in the Jaguar Enthusiasts Magazine, he kept the car for 4 years

Servicing work completed in March 2026 @ 64k miles by Modern and Classics

When receiving its new MOT which it passed with NO ADVISORIES, I was able to view the underside of the car in detail and it is just incredible to see how genuine it still remains after almost 40 years, something so many XJ40 models are not able to boast about.

Correct dry storage over the years has saved this wonderful car from the dreaded rust that so many of these cars suffered from.

Beautiful factory standard engine bay with all production stickers, labelling, fuse box and relay covers are present and correct along with the factory battery isolator which is still operational

On the road this Daimler performs as it should with an impressive amount of performance after nearly 40 years when required. The gearbox changes as it should and the ride is smooth and comfortable free of any noises or clonks

In Summary

One of the few surviving early 3. 6 Daimler XJ40 models in solid standard excellent condition, Sir William Lyons would be very proud; he sadly passed away two years prior to this particular cars delivery but was still able to see the XJ40 almost hit production before his death in 1985 a model he was very involved with since the early seventies.

Very few Daimler XJ40 models are still registered on UK roads and this is one of those surviving cars in very fine order with everything working as it should including the Air Conditioning, Cruise Control and all the electric refinements, making this a very comfortable usable classic Daimler.

Comprehensively serviced and recommissioned which has been an extremely enjoyable thing to do and now able to pass on to the next owner to enjoy.

"Please note the fuel filter was fitted after the underside picture was taken"

The exhaust system is Genuine Jaguar
