We are always looking for excellent, low mileage examples of both modern and classic sports cars; when the opportunity came up to acquire this exceptional ‘facelift’ MGF we simply couldn’t resist. With an excellent history file substantiating the exceptionally low mileage, this is indeed a rare find.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Delivering 118hp from its 1. 8 litre K-Series engine, progress is really quite swift with 60mph coming up in just 8. 5 seconds. Having covered so few miles and benefitting from regular servicing and maintenance, the engine performs superbly, pulling with eagerness. Gear changes through the short-throw 5-speed manual ‘box feel very positive and smooth.
EXTERIOR
Sadly many MGF’s have suffered neglect and fallen victim to low residual values. As such finding a well preserved example proves ever more challenging. No wonder, then, that this remarkable MGF has attracted admiring comments from passers-by. Being an early ‘facelift’ model it benefits from a series of subtle styling tweaks offset beautifully against the gleaming Solar Red paintwork. INTERIOR
The compact cabin of this particular MGF has clearly been treated with great care. There is no excessive wear to either of the fabric upholstered seats. The dashboard and door cards are free from unsightly marks or damage and all switchgear functions as intended. The surprisingly spacious front and rear boot compartments are also remarkably clean.
MECHANICAL
In much the same spirit as the MG sports cars of the '70s and '80s, the MGF is all about accessible performance offering maximum smiles-per-mile. Not to be dismissed for its popularity, the broad appeal of the MGF is testimony to the fact that it is bona fide small sports car. There is a beautiful balance to the car urging you to exploit its capabilities; weighing in at just 1075kg the MGF always was a very nimble little sports car. Mechanically the car is almost faultless, its low mileage evidenced by the function and effectiveness of the brakes, suspension and drivetrain.
WHEELS & TYRES
The original 15-inch alloy wheels are virtually unmarked, each wearing matching-brand tyres. The front tyres appear almost new whilst the rears have several thousand miles of thread remaining.
