1963 Austin Mini MK 1 Super Deluxe in factory Almond Green with Porcelain green seats. This fantastic MK 1 mini started life as an 850 cc but has been upgraded to a 998 cc engine with stage one Maniflow exhaust and manifold. As a result it is much the same to drive as 998 Cooper and far more practical for today's roads and driving speeds than the standard 850. It also has Cooper S style reverse rims and wide tyres which give it more sporty appearance and it feels really positive and solid in the corners. The interior seats are original and there is the addition of a period steering wheel which feels great to hold. Being a Super Deluxe it has the oval binnacle with oil pressure and water temperature gauges as well as opening rear windows. In 2011 the mini was fully restored so the body is in fantastic condition. It has the correct 4 vent sills and all of the underbody is green and very clean. Upon inspection it is easy to see the true condition of the mini as there is no under-seal in sight! Due to restoration being completed 7 years ago it is reasuring to see the condition today is unchanged which reflects the high quality of work that was carried out. The engine, gearbox, brakes and subframes where all overhauled. When you lift the carpets the floors are immaculate and due to it being restored properly there are no welded plates or any visual welding at all. The novelty features of an early MK 1 are all present like the floor mounted started button and main bean dip switch, plus the illuminated indicator stalk. It starts on the first push of the button and runs wonderfully. It has strong oil pressure and as soon as you pull away you can feel the 998 engine is well up for the job. It accelerates well and will sit at 60 MPH comfortably at sensible revs and it is relaxed and pleasurable on duel carriageways as well as A roads. The twin leading shoe drum brakes stop the car well and give confidence to the driver. I have a history file with past MOTs and a Heritage Certificate which shows matching external and internal colours and finish.
