For sale 1937 Riley Kestrel for restoration
We have decided to part with our 1937 Riley Kestrel as we have to many projects and not enough time to do them all so sadly this must go. We purchased CVC 891 in March 2021 with the intention of restoring it for my mother.
As you can see the restoration work has been started, all of the framework has been renewed and has been done to a very good standard, the chassis looks to be straight and in good order. All of the parts required for the rebuild are present, body panels such as the door skins, boot lid with the spare wheel well, glass, all of the interior including trim, the dashboard and instruments, original headlights and much more. There is at least one 1500cc engine plus a spare engine block, spare pistons, crankshaft and much more as seen in the photographs. The chrome bumpers are there and have been re-chromed in the past, they do look to been in very good condition.
The spares list is as follows (this is additional to the parts required for the restoration) …
Engine block (believed to be 1500cc)
Manual gearbox
Pistons (believed to be 1500cc)
Crankshaft (believed to be for 1500cc engine)
Tyres x3 (in good shape, look to be new old stock)
Engine components, manifolds, rocker covers etc
Doors x4
Dashboard (no instruments)
Most Kestrels are fitted with the preselect gearbox however, as you can see the car has been fitted with a manual gearbox, the story goes that CVC 891 once belonged to one of the original Riley brothers who used it as a test car, apparently, they fitted this manual gearbox as a part of the testing. Unfortunately, we have no evidence of this but, it is a nice story and one that has been passed over from owner to owner, it certainly would explain the gearbox swap.
For this piece of history, we are asking £5000, UK wide delivery can be arranged for an additional cost.
The car is near Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire so please bare this in mind!
