Offered for sale is possibly the most successful club racing seven of the 1960s, 61 documented podiums including 31 wins, winner of the 1968 BRSCC Clubmans championship, runner up in the 1967 Guards Trophy, and with period Goodwood history.
The identity of the car is verified by the Historic Lotus Register, and its full ownership during the sixties is known and documented in a terrific history file including its original buff logbook and many race results, period photos from previous owners and contemporary race reports.
It was taken off the road during the sixties to become a full time racer and lost its original registration. At the end of that decade it retired from racing, and the history becomes less clear. It is believed to have spent some time in Switzerland and was brought back to the UK at the end of the nineties. The car was identified by its original dataplate and frame number still welded to the chassis. I bought it at auction in 2000 in a very poor state with many incorrect parts fitted, and gave it a thorough restoration with repairs to the chassis, new bodywork and complete re-trim all by specialists.
It was most recently raced with the HSCC and CSCC between 2006-2009 but has seen little use since. The car is presently fitted with a Swiftune 1293cc engine and standard (rebuilt) 1275 type gearbox. it comes with full screen and weather equipment (including a new unused hood), detachable roll over bar, spare bodywork and other parts.
It is being sold reluctantly due to its not getting enough use and my limited garage space being required for other things. After 23 years in my ownership it needs to move on to the next chapter in its story, hopefully to race again.
