MGB GT August 1980 (W)
For sale is my beautiful MGB GT that raises smiles and get waves wherever it goes. I bought the car last spring and enjoyed a summer of coastal drives and car shows. Unfortunately having three (growing) children we are looking for something a little more practical to use. I'd prefer a sale but would consider a swap or PX for the right classic car that must have four useable seats.

It really has been a great starter classic for me The support network and availability of parts make an MGB a brilliant choice for a classic car. The car was delivered from the factory to James Wirrel Ltd in Cheshire and spent the 80's in Preston, the 90's in St Anne's and then went to the Isle of White in 2001. The evidence suggests that it was in dry storage from 2014/ 2015 when it's last MOT expired until early 2022 when it was recommissioned and found its way to Yorkshire to be sold at Mathewson's Auction house (TV's Banger & Cash) where it was sold and passed through several dealers before finally arriving at the small dealer in St Austell Cornwall where I bought the car.
As well as an engine tune up including replacing the coils and points I have concentrated on the general appearance of the car the most obvious being reupholstering the rear seat, chrome wheel trims, chrome rear drum covers, a lovely polished wood and alloy steering wheel and polished alloy rocket cover....
I also removed the horrible silver (and broken) 90's stereo and blanked it off. The wiring is still there if the new owner would like to add a new stereo and the speakers are fitted in the door cards. I prefer to listen to the engine and exhaust when I drive it so didn't see a need to replace it....
There are some spares included with the car including a Haynes manual and the original steering wheel, also a breathable car cover. When I first bought the car I had intended to change the bumpers for chrome as many do and collected indicators and corner inserts as a start but quickly decided that actually I prefer the rubber bumpers. The new owner will those couple of bits if they did want to do a conversion....
As mentioned the car has had wax treatment from the dealer and this coating has been kept up with. The only corrosion I found was the drivers side A pillar which has just been professionally repaired by a small car restoration company and has been painted and had a new door seal added....
The car is a very presentable and usable classic with a great patina and is lovely to drive. It gets admiring attention everywhere it goes. A little toot on the air horn makes people smile too!...
