I got the bike MoT'd bike yesterday, it is now MoT'd until 14th of July 2024.
Truthfully, when the MoT mechanic gave me the bike back he told me "It really is superb, I was surprised at how nice it is".
He said that because it is.
Its' genuine low mileage is evidenced by its' excellent condition. There is very little wear, or "wear and tear" on bodywork or seat. Very little wear on any of it to be honest.
The bike needed to be properly recommissioned, when I got it, which I did. Even though it had previously and recently had oil, air filter and coolant changed 2 years ago (as I recall he told me, receipts available with the documents) at its' last full service, since then it has done few miles. Since I have had it, I've done less than a hundred miles on it, including my ride home from the bloke I bought it off!
It has benefitted from a new chain and rear sprocket which has done very little mileage, and for practicality, I have put a footrest lowering kit on it which helps immensely, but sadly I simply do not fit on sports bikes anymore!
The original footrests will of course come with the bike.
The brakes have been completely refurbished, including caliper strips and cleaning, new seals and pads and a very thorough system flush; the discs show hardly any wear, commensurate with low mileage. The brakes work beautifully now.
Tyres are good for at least a couple of thousand miles.
I have gone over it in some detail, and I am satisfied that it couldn't really be in much better condition for a 25 year old bike.
I will consider a very near offer.
I may consider a part exchange for a British or Italian 500 twin.
Please be aware it may have a few more miles put on it over the next few weeks. I bought the bike because it has that early British sports bike rugged handsomeness and charm about it, and I remember how well they went back in the day.
The very low mileage was not lost on me either!
When you get it moving, the weight disappears and it really does handle well, and it does everything that it should.
It's a lovely thing, and the engine response is terrific, full of beans; and sound it make under acceleration makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up!
In my opinion, it's got class. And it gets a lot of "looks"! The perfect thing for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride perhaps, because at least you know it'll get you there and back!
