DEPOSIT PAID - sale in progress. This is not your average Elan Sprint. It is a low mileage genuine Type 45 car that has been restored to a very high standard, whilst retaining a great deal of originality.
The build date is April 1972 but it was registered in 1973.
Many thousands have been spent over the years on the body and original engine rebuild, recorded in the extensive history file. Lots of MOT's back up the original low mileage of 65, 100 miles.
It's in its original colour and the panel fit on the car is the best I've seen on an Elan... no sticking out doors and uneven gaps. The paintwork is to the highest standard, and there is no cracking, crazing or microblistering. The interior is the original with excellent original finish dash. The signed steering wheel is perfect as are the original seats and door panels. Engine compartment is nicely detailed and clean. The rare original jack and handle is present, as is a genuine factory workshop manual.
Upgrades are subtle, with a Kenlowe fan and aluminium radiator. Stainless exhaust system, and high torque starter. A new original spec hood (from Sue Miller) has recently been fitted, and an oil and oil/ air filter change has been completed within the last 200 miles. There is a tonneau cover.
The car performs well and handles like it's on rails thanks to significant attention to the suspension set up and ride heights by Nick Adams. It is shod with correct Michelin XAS tyres (£200+ each) which are nearly new. There are no clunks or rattles.
I doubt if there is a much better Sprint on the market. It is for sale only to fund a new project.
