Australian Ford Falcon Panel Van, Series XG, 1996 model, 4 litre OHC, with 4 wheel disc brakes. This is the only Panel Van of its type in the UK as far as we know.
Sold new to Telecom, the Australian version of British Telecom and used for 3 years in the inland town of Dubbo, NSW. Then sold off into private ownership and purchased by a friend of mine in Brisbane from whom I purchased it in 2004. It has been in use as a camper van in Australia before being shipped to the UK in 2009, where it was stored every Winter from November to April. Then Summertime use only visiting the classic car shows and providing free accommodation in its spacious 7 foot long interior load space. Mechanically excellent with a 4 litre very economical petrol injected engine plus a special option 5 speed manual gearbox plus disc brakes on all four wheels. It has had a new clutch less than 3000 miles ago, a new exhaust system and a new windscreen which needs fitting. It has air conditioning which has not been used for 14 years so it will need servicing. The mileage counter has stopped working but an excellent used item is provided The original paintwork will need some attention as the sun has caused the clear lacquer on the roof to start peeling. There are no rust holes but there is some very light surface rust in some body seams. The hand-painted side curtains to the interior were provided by an Aboriginal artist. The MOT runs until the 19th. February 2024. There is a large file of Service History, old MOT's and other documentation. A crate of new and excellent used spare parts is included; this contains items such as brand new tail-lamps, a brand new alternator, various gaskets, cables and other sundry spares. A load or dog barrier is also included but this is not fitted at the moment.
The present owner is returning to Australia before Christmas so the van needs to be sold in the next 4 months. This van was scheduled to be driven from South East Cape at the bottom of Tasmania to North Cape at the top of Norway making it of interest to the Guinness Book of Records as the only vehicle to have accomplished such a drive. But we only got as far as Southampton, UK when other responsibilities got in the way! The new owner may wish to complete the drive!
