This is a wonderfully original Series3 88" petrol Landrover.
You will not find any chequerplate, spotlamps, roll cage, wide tyres or bullbars!
You will however find a well loved, very low mileage (see MOT history for verification), fully functional and 'up together' example.
You will also find many subtle but desirable enhancements in keeping with original spec. e. g. Fairey overdrive, freewheeling front hubs, four new parabolic leafsprings and new shock absorbers, Wipac halogen headlights, Weber carburettor, Exmoor overmats, rear bench seats, partial new exhaust etc.
A new set of tyres, replacement brake shoes, new complete galvanised door tops resprayed to match body colour, new door cards as well as all the other routine maintenance parts.
How about the most important aspect of these iconic vehicles, the chassis and bulkhead? The chassis has, at some point had a rear crossmember replaced but it looks to have been done professionally done. The bulkhead is, as can be seen from some photos, also in good solid shape.
From April next year the car will be tax, MOT and ULEZ(!) exempt. If I could keep the vehicle then it's value will then surely increase. I am just about to take delivery of a replacement so sadly cannot wait.
In my view here is an opportunity to purchase a really genuine, very low mileage, unmolested example of a true British icon.
Significant price reduction, (£2, 000) for quick sale as replacement now arrived. This Series 3 was very well maintained by an enthusiast when I bought it. I spent ages trying to find one as original as possible without all the chequerplate and glossy paint covering up a multitude of horrors. This car shouted 'take me as you find me!' There was some cosmetic work to be done but I enjoyed slowly improving the looks. The wheels especially needed repainting (I do have a spare set which potentially are even better). I also replaced the door tops as complete units with glass sliders etc. I opted for the more expensive galvanised type for longevity.
The Landrover elicits smiles and waves wherever we go and is much admired. I have been told so many times just how 'cool' she looks although I am more concerned about the mechanicals.
