The Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 'Bollino Oro'. As the 1950s came to a close, it became clear that the predecessor to the Giulia, the Giulietta, needed to be replaced, as it had already been around for 10 years. On June 27, 1962, the successor to the Giulietta was introduced at the Monza circuit in Italy: the Giulia TI, designed by Orazio Satta Puliga. Remarkably, despite its boxy shape, the Alfa Romeo had a low drag coefficient. This low drag was due to the so-called "Kamm-Tail". Thanks to this "Kamm-Tail", the Giulia even had less air resistance than a contemporary 911. The Giulia model marked the beginning of a career that would last until 1978 and served as the foundation for numerous Alfa Romeo models. The Sprint and Spider are two of those icons that found their basis in the Giulia.
The Giulia was an enormous economic success for Alfa Romeo, leading to several variants of the Giulia. In April 1963, Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia TI Super, a very special version. This TI was produced only 501 times in total and was exclusively offered to private racers.
The Giulia Super was presented in the spring of 1965 at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. The Giulia Super received a more powerful engine, better carburetors, a floor-mounted gear lever, and a large number of detail changes, including the distinctive emblem that gave the model its 'Bollino Oro' nickname. 'Bollino Oro', which translates to 'golden ball', is the name for the first generation of Supers, referring to the golden badge on the C-pillar.
We at HooG Selections proudly present this Alfa Romeo Giulia Super. This beautiful example was built in 1967, specifically on January 23, 1967. The example we offer is an originally Italian-delivered car in never-restored, highly original, and rust-free condition. This fine Alfa Romeo is equipped with the very rare 'Bollino Oro' package. This Giulia features a stainless steel grille, stainless steel sill trim, and the 'Bollino Oro' emblem on the C-pillar. What is particularly unique about this example are the door panels, which still have the factory plastic on them, exactly as delivered in '67. A nice detail is the vent windows. In earlier models, the mechanism to close the windows often broke. In this model, they integrated this mechanism into the door. This Giulia Super is completely original, from the radio to the bodywork. There has been no welding on this Giulia Super, which is unique for an Alfa of this age.
In 2016, the car was purchased by a very loving owner from the Netherlands. We acquired the example in July 2022, after which we immediately carried out the necessary major maintenance.
