Description
1964 Lotus Elan S1
New info added
Probably the perfect early Elan restoration project.
Lotus Elan S1 dry stored with V5c in my name
Believed to have been developed by Broadspeed who had the car at their premises in 1974 when a new engine was fitted ( rebuilt from an 1963 s1 Elan ) and the mileage zeroed. Also displays the typical Broadspeed arches. Further research is underway but all documents seem to show this was the case.
The chassis looks quite sound but now includes a spare chassis if required - See photo
If anyone has information about this historically interesting car might you kindly let known please. XTY 500.
I have a S3 26r project so one of these two has to be sold. See photo of number 6.
The S1 car is in need of restoration but is fairly complete and sound. Please see the photos.
Sale Includes several MOT certificates Old v5 and green log book as well as the current V5c in my name. Has not been on the road since 1985 and mileage is showing 43000 miles.
Engine turns freely and a few boxes of bits switches etc go with the car.
This car also maybe an original rare Bourne bodied car, although there is no Bourne ID plate, there is the original grey gel coat. And with the chassis number 319 it falls within the first 350 ( although with Lotus sometimes it’s anybody’s guess) !
Would make a superb 26r race car or a splendid road car and maybe retaining the Broadspeed spec. Which would make the car enormously rare and historic.
This Broadspeed car I am selling would make a fabulous restoration / rebuild of a rare Elan - now becoming few and far between in their own right and probably the best little classic sports car money can buy - especially the early S1’s
May consider a restored early lotus P/ X.
Added info.
I have added photo of front brake calliper. All four are in good condition just needing a recommission. Suspension is sound.
It’s fitted with + 2 wheels because of the arches - the larger wheels must have looked better proportioned with the Broadspeed arches. Also some switch gear is not shown on the dash but there are additional bits as per photo added. UPDATE:
Checked under the car and red oxide chassis looks in good shape and suspect it might be original.
Keen to see this car back to its former glory and not sold for parts so open to a realistic offer from someone willing to restore.
Wanted Lotus 7 Series 1 parts or project / etc
