Selling my Ford Escort Cabriolet 1. 8 130 in Imperial blue with only 35000 genuine miles. Bought 18 months ago as a light project after it had been stored in a dry garage for 6 years by the previous owner, I am only the third owner.
Before starting the car for the first time I renewed both the cambelt and auxiliary belt, new oil and filter, flushed and renewed coolant. Fitted a new battery and replaced spark plugs. After not being run for 6 years it started first turn of the key with fresh fuel.
Had to repair the fuse box as the interior fan didn't work and replace the temperature sensor for the temperature gauge to work. Also replaced the power steering sensor as the old one leaked and renewed the fluid.
Underneath is excellent with no rust and it has never been welded. I stripped all the suspension and cleaned and painted everything. Replaced wishbones, drop links and replaced all the nuts and bolts.
I cleaned and painted the brake calipers and renewed the brake fluid.
New exhaust rear box also fitted.
I then sprayed the underneath and inside wheel arches with Dinitrol wax. The paintwork has the odd small mark but for 31 years old I would describe it as excellent and the Imperial blue polishes up very nicely.
The interior is virtually like a new car, the wing back seats are unmarked as you would expect from a 35k mile car.
The original vinyl hood was ripped so I replaced it with a second hand mohair one in very good condition, new hydraulic oil and it works great.
Also, 4 new Nexen tyres fitted. New heated windscreen fitted.
MOT until 30th October, has a very good MOT history you can see online. Has a good service history but some years missing while it was stored.
