Ginetta G32
In 1989, Ginetta Cars, after nearly 30 years of manufacturing fibreglass sports/ kit cars that you could drive to events and race, had a change of direction. The trusted Ford based front engine RWD car became a one make race series car – the G27, which continues today in various guises. Alongside this, Ginetta launched a purely road car, the G32, that was only sold as a completed vehicle and it had more refinement than their previous cars.
The G32 was very similar in layout to the Toyota MR2 MK1. The G32 was mid-engined and all original cars had the Ford CVH 1600cc engine (from the XR3i) and 5SP gearbox. Many other Ford parts were used such as the sub-frames, light clusters and steel Fiesta doors and the rest of the body is fiberglass.
Although the original design did not consider competition use, several owners found it handled quite well and in the usual quest for more power, upgrades included using the 1900 CVH and turbo charging. It was discovered that the more flexible Zetec engine (in various sizes) was an easy swap.
Towards the end of production run of 115 G32s, Ginetta fitted the Zetec engine to some cars.
This particular G32 is well-known in the Scottish Hillcimbing community being the chosen steed (or “broomstick”) of the Late Nina Baker who together with her husband David was a stalwart of the Scottish Motorsport community.
It has an 1800 cc Zetec engine running on Jenvey throttle bodies , and is fitted with an Escort RS Turbo diff . It is shod with Khomo v700 on 15” alloys with a couple of spares currently fitted with slicks.
Although not presently road legal it comes with a V5 and also has a UK Motorsport logbook/ passport.

Subject to the usual fluids/ spanner-check this is race ready and a cheap “turnkey” entry to hillclimbing / sprinting
