Meet ‘Little Baz’! This fantastic 1979 Clubman Estate in Snapdragon yellow turns heads whenever on the road and is the starter of many conversations when out and about. I have owned Little Baz for over 10 years and will be sad to see the car go, the only reason I am selling is that I just don’t get the chance to drive it, it hasn't been on the road since 2018 and this car is one which deserves to be driven and appreciated.
The car is in lovely condition, it was restored over a 6-7 year period in 2006 and has had lots of TLC since, it is standard other than the electronic ignition I had fitted a few years ago. This car has wanted for nothing, it is under-sealed and when I took it off the road it was solid underneath, bodywork is great and it is mechanically sound. It had a new clutch, crank seal and tune up at approx. 65, 000 miles as the crank seal was leaking and had contaminated the clutch plate.
The car has always been garaged whilst I have owned it and I understand that the previous 2 owners did likewise, there have been 7 owners in all but obviously each one has cared for the car without question, as can be seen by the condition and the comprehensive history and documentation pack. You will be hard pushed to find another like this, having only covered 66, 600 miles from new and the history that comes with it is amazing, MOTs, tax discs, receipts, owner’s manuals, service book, original Austin handbook portfolio, Haynes manuals, magazines, some original purchase paperwork from Main Dealer Kennings etc.
This is a rare vehicle and particularly in this colour, and is only set to increase in value. To add further to this value, the number plate alone has been valued at £1800. The car has never let me down and I will MOT it so the lucky new owner can drive away. I haven’t applied to the DVLA for the car to be tax exempt as it now qualifies but this is a simple process which can be completed quickly.
This really is a great little clubman estate that is totally ready to use and enjoy, it gets loads of attention wherever I go. Starts and drives spot on, I can’t believe the looks or attention the car gets and whoever owns it next will not be disappointed.
One last thing and something that sets this car apart, it was featured in a 2016 UK comedy film ‘Dusty and Me’, which is set in Yorkshire in 1977 and about a teenage boy’s summer after leaving school. Well worth a watch, and not just for ‘Little Baz’!
