Her name is TALLULAH ☺️ 1968 Morris Minor Traveller. 1098cc.
****** SHE IS NOT WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE.
SHE’S A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING*****
Mechanically, including underneath, she is in very good condition and runs extremely well. The interior, the woodwork etc, is also in good and original condition. Externally she’s a great example of an ‘oily rag’. 18, 500 miles shows on the speedo. Only about 500 miles since renovation was completed. Original number plate. She is rust free underneath and around her chassis.
My late father, who was very mechanically gifted, spent over 20 years lovingly rebuilding her and restoring her from piles of parts presented to him in cardboard boxes along with a chassis and running gear.
The surprises she hides are:
Engine compression raised to 10:1
Gearbox rebuilt and ratios changed
Rear axle rebuilt and ratios changed from 4:2:1 to 3:9:1
Carburettor changed from S. U 1. 25 to S. U 1. 75
Riley 1500 air filter
Special upgraded exhaust with 2 silencer barrells
Upgraded drum brakes. Fronts now 9” Riley 1500
Prop shaft balanced
Anti roll bar fitted
Plus many other rebuilt and new parts through out.
I have comprehensive documentation of the renovation, including photos. She has just been thoroughly inspected mechanically and everything is in good order. I love that she sounds like a sports car, can accelerate up hills and drives true and straight. Handles beautifully and fires up at a touch of the key.
My father restored her with love. He believed that the journey was far more important than reaching the destination. So he spent hours, days and weeks perfecting every bit of her to his liking. He liked old cars to look the part and not to look like a new car. He was very focused on everything being as good as it could be mechanically, of course adding his own touches, but he didn't over do the paintwork and body. As long as the condition was excellent, he always preferred to create an oil rag finish.
