Description
Reluctantly selling my G15 project.
I’ve owned this car for a number of years and it’s been subject to a complete nut and bolt body off chassis rebuild, practically everything has been replaced.
As it stands, the body is back on the chassis and the majority of running gear has been installed, leaving the final plumbing (clutch/ brakes/ water) and wiring to be completed, along with some ancillaries and fittings to get it back running and driving.
The paintwork also needs doing. It was stripped prior to my ownership and is now largely in primer yellow but this needs further attention/ filling to get ready for paint. It could of course be wrapped as an alternative.
The chassis has been strengthened in the usual places as it was intention to use the car for the odd sprint (but mainly a road car) so could form the basis for a competition car as unlike many g15’s of this period the car doesn’t have a sunroof.
Full details of the outstanding areas of work, spares, parts fitted etc can be supplied for anyone seriously interested, but as a general guide:
Chassis blasted and re fabricated sections/ gusseted/ braced as necessary
New protech shocks fitted
New rear springs/ spring rubbers
Rebuilt gearbox (by ex Hartwell mechanic)
Rebuilt linkages/ gear shift mechanism
Upgraded driveshafts/ UJ’s
New brake discs/ calipers/ pads
Suspension arms stripped/ refurbished inc bushes, trunnions etc
All new nuts/ bolts throughout
Rebuilt/ refurbished factory seats
Refurbished steering rack/ solid mountings
Carbs aquablasted and rebuilt with new seals, o rings and gaskets
4 into 1 small bore manifold & matching back box
Mike Dent pedal box and master cylinders
Mike Dent gearshift shift UJ modification
New waterpump, fuel pump, oil cooler (and lines), handbrake cables etc from the imp club
Refurbished original g15 rad, plus spare fiesta rad (new)
A good project to pick up and finish off as the majority of the heavy lifting has already been carried out and what remains is largely finishing off/ refining fit and finish, spanner checking and continuing the reassembly.
Parts missing are front and rear screens - my intention was to utilise polycarbonate heated screens for these, but new glass screens are available.
The engine currently fitted is a good used 875 sport sourced from Malcolm Anderson. Longer term this could warrant rebuilding/ replacing depending on what you intend to use the car for - I had plans for a 998 upgrade at some point but wanted to get the car running/ driving first. Whilst this car is known to the Ginetta owners club, and I hold a valid hmrc nova certificate for it, it’s not currently UK registered having spent the majority of its life in Ireland.
As the car was first registered in the UK its re-registration here should be a formality once the build is complete. The GOC would be happy to support this.
Obviously it could be re-exported to Europe using it’s Irish paperwork.
