Description
For sale is my RS 1600. Low owner car 4 previous. Lots of history and well known car. Been garaged and not used for a long time, will need some recommissioning. Does run and drive. This car is an older restoration and I believe it was reshelled using a new genuine AVO works bigwing shell. Not a restored car welded up with dodgy pattern panels. Gaps are great. You can see all original spot welds. This is not a concourse car but a very good example. All interior is original and not repo. You can’t buy that original smell. Massive folder of paperwork with the car. Looks stunning. Price is firm……. Genuine interest only…. This is a previous write up of the car…. 1971 RS 1600 BDA Twin Cam MK1 Escort in Daytona Yellow. Featured in a 6 page spread in RETRO FORD Magazine in June 2011 the opening words of the author are " The RS 1600 is a special type of Escort and KWU 339J happens to be one of the very best of the breed" . This car is for the true enthusiast & possibly purest as the magazine feature continues to boast " Its a truly fabulous car" or "There's something special about this car" and so on over six pages. The car has it's "BFAT***" Vin number and the engine number " HE * 546" is confirmed as being the 546th built by Harper Engineering who use to assemble the early BDA engines for Ford. The car was completely and professionally restored by AVO enthusiast Mr. Francis Morris in 2003 and spoken very highly of by Mr William Arnold, The AVO clubs RS 1600 secretary. The engine was completely rebuilt at this time and a five speed gearbox was fitted.
