Description

it is the classic BMW tourer, brought up to date for 2025, refined and smooth with good brakes. This bike was purchased in 2006 and given a full frame off restoration. The engine and gearbox where given a full rebuild by JIM Cray a renowned airhead specialist.
The spec included lightened flywheel, balanced crank, twin plug rebuilt heads and a Moteren Israel 320 degree camshaft. the bike was later fitted with Siebenrock 1000cc kit adapted by SKRUNKWERKS in Melbourne to give both a high compression ratio and a proper squish band. The ignition is by Trispark and twin dyna coils
Braking is ensured by fitting a 13mm diameter brake cylinder and EBC semi floating discs.
a single seat is fitted, plus an easily removable rear rack which is optimised for fitting fabric panniers.
The suspension is by Maxton with their rear shocks and front fork inserts. The front wheel has a tubular fork Brace and an alloy top clamp.
the paintwork is by Dream Machine.
Silencers and downpipes are stainless steel by Keihan.
the speedo and re counter consol is fitted with a Katdash replacement insert as the OEM inserts don't last long.
The Alternator and diode board have been replaced with a modern 450W version
The rear light is an Emerald Isle LED version which means that you get seen at night.
The bike comes with a thick lever arch file containing old MOTs (some prior to my ownership) various instructions and receipts for parts and works carried out. a Cylmer Manual and a Haynes manual is included.
The bad things are no frame lock key. No clutch starter interlock switch and the bike will need a new rear tyre in the next 1000 miles.
Servicing has been by me so records are scant, but includes a full oil and filter change every year in October, before the bike gets put away for the winter. This bike has covered around 40000 miles since it was restored.
The mileage was mainly summer miles all over europe. it has been as far east as Bulgaria and as far west as Portugal and most places in between including many visits to the Colombres Vintage bike event held in the autumn, the last visit was in 2023.
I have even used it at BMW club trackday events, it's interesting being the oldest bike on the track.
I suffered a stroke last year and have very reluctantly conclude that this bike is a bit too heavy for me to safely ride.
Don't buy this bike if you want an OEM BMW it's much better than that
