Description
This Rover P6 3500S is just something special. It was the subject of a nut and bolt restoration in the 2010's by the owner before last during which the opportunity was taken to replace the Standard 4 speed gearbox and the Engine Cylinder Heads with the ones from a Rover SD1. The SD1 Gearbox is now a Five Speed and the replacement Cylinder Heads increase the Compression Ratio. Other changes made at the time include a Replacement Electric Fuel Pump and a fully Electronic Distributor. During the rebuild the interior panels were fully rustproofed. I bought the car in February 2022 and the only work undertaken during my tenure has been to replace the front suspension bushes
The reason for the car's sale is that I have Parkinson's Disease and its progression has forced me to sell my classic car collection as I can no longer maintain them as I would wish.
As the car is now 53 years old, No MOT is required and one will not be available upon sale as one is not needed. I am an ex Engineer and have looked after all my classic cars myself. The last Oil Change was undertaken by me during 2022, and as the car is only a show car covering just 250 miles in my ownership, it was felt there has been no need to change the oil since.
When you look at the photographs you will see that the car has a cherished Number Plate. Please add £1000 to the advertised price if you wish to retain it.
That's about it apart from adding that this car is truly remarkable for its age and the first to see it will definitely buy it.
If you wish to speak to the restorer, I can put you in touch to give you peace of mind, but just come and look it over. I always wanted a Rover P6 and sold my beloved MGB Roadster to release the funds to buy this one. This is a Rover P6 3500S with a Five Speed Gearbox from a Rover SD1. As they say - "The one to have", however, if you want The original components I have them stored too and they will go along with the car with lots of other spares parts etc. Another Plus Point is the car has the much sought after rear headrests too.
The only bad points relate to there is no Cigar Lighter fitted, (The socket works as my Sat Nav works from the socket), and the clock does not work either. This does not bother me either as the car is fitted with a cut out switch which when removed isolates the battery, hence it stops the clock when the key is removed.
