Description
1953 Riley RME – 1. 5 Litre – NOJ 549 – Beautiful Classic
A gorgeous example of a 1953 Riley RME 1. 5 litre, finished in a lovely cream exterior with a contrasting black roof and a striking red interior, believed to be original and possibly leather. The car features a beautiful wooden dashboard, thought to be the original walnut, which adds real period charm.
This Riley has been thoroughly enjoyed over the years, used for local countryside drives, classic car shows and even the occasional wedding. It has always been a cherished car and is only being offered for sale due to the owner no longer being able to drive as a result of ill health.
The car has been garaged for many years. It runs and the brakes are working. A brand-new battery was fitted in November 2025, and a new diaphragm kit has been installed in the fuel pump. The air filter simply needs to be reinstalled, as the owner didn’t get round to refitting it.
The paintwork is generally in good condition for its age, presenting very well overall, though there are a couple of small areas that would benefit from attention if you are aiming for perfection.
The last good run was approximately five years ago, so while it is running, some gentle recommissioning should be expected before regular use.
A beautiful, honest example of a classic Riley with great character, history, and presence — ideal for shows, events, or sympathetic further use by the next enthusiast.
