We are pleased to offer this superb Jaguar Type E Cabriolet Series 1 from 1967, equipped with the 4. 2-litre XK six-cylinder engine.
This example left the factory in 1967 and was delivered to the Milan Jaguar dealer Emilio Cimma. He kept it until 1968 as a display vehicle. The first owner kept the car from 1968 to 1971. The second owner acquired it in 1971 and kept it until 2015, after which the last owner purchased it in 2021.
Painted in Cream with a Red leather interior, this Jaguar presents a harmonious colour combination, completely Matching Colors. Its 4, 235 cm³ inline six developing 265 hp is fed by three SU horizontal carburettors and paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and is also Matching Numbers (engine block and cylinder head), which was rebuilt in 2011.
The car benefited from a substantial restoration between 2015 and 2018. This included a full restoration of the bodyshell, complete re-trimming of the upholstery, as well as the removal of the engine, gearbox and differential for a general inspection.
The mechanical work includes notably the replacement of the clutch mechanism and slave cylinder, the fitting of an electronic 123 ignition with modification of the ignition loom, replacement of the alternator, installation of a next-generation oil filtration system, replacement of the air filter, as well as the fitting of a full stainless steel exhaust system in “big bore” type.
Also replaced were the electric fuel pump, the six dampers (including two adjustable front gas dampers), with removal of the rear axle for replacement of the suspension bushes and the prop shaft coupling. The braking system was fully overhauled with the fitting of four-piston Coopercraft calipers, replacement of hoses with aviation hoses, the brake master cylinder and the brake servo.
Finally, the engine, lighting and dashboard wiring harnesses were replaced.
This Jaguar has undergone meticulous restoration and is particularly pleasant to drive. It is also equipped with a long-distance axle ratio of 3. 07 (43/ 13), offering smoother and more comfortable driving, especially on roads and at steady speeds.
