Description
We are delighted to offer this very special Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster on the market. In 1990 was owned by English Cars of Distinction in Coventry, a top tier Jaguar specialist focused primarily on E-Type restoration and re-engineering. They offered bespoke builds, upgrades and were held in very high regard. At a cost of £55, 000 thirty-six years ago, they transformed this V12 E-Type, taking it to the very highest of standards. Since completion all those years ago, XRW 26J has covered just 16, 000 miles and having been maintained superbly since, the E-Type arrives with us in impressive condition throughout. One of the main reasons this car presents as it does so many years since rebuild is down to the bodyshell. English Cars to Distinction ensured a completely rust free bodyshell and reports in the history file tell us renowned experts RS Panels were involved in the rebuilding of the shell.
The Company who commissioned the rebuild ordered the car in Gunmetal with Red leather trim, and work included completely rebuilding the V12 engine and four speed gearbox, completely rebuilt steering and suspension systems, new braking system with modernised components, a complete total re-wire, all new chrome work and exterior body fittings and new chrome wire wheels, hubs and tyres. Since completion, the E-Type has been superbly maintained, a comprehensive file of invoices are on record to support.
XRW 26J has been regularly serviced and over the years mechanical upkeep has included a new steering rack, carbs have been rebuilt, exhaust manifolds replaced and the exhaust system has been replaced. The E-Type has also in recent years had a brand new mohair hood and new windscreen, keeping the car in lovely condition throughout. XRW 26J retains an exceptional bodyshell as expected with careful use and low mileage since the rebuild. The shell was essentially brand new, and many years on since restoration there are no corrosion concerns. Panel gaps are excellent, wheel arches, doors, bonnet and boot lid excellent and the underside has fabulous floor pans and exceptional sills. The Gunmetal paint finish retains a wonderful deep finish, brightwork is still of a very good standard and the engine bay is smart with an impressive space frame. The Red leather trim is beautiful, the Black mohair hood excellent. On the road the V12 does not disappoint, performance is exceptional from the 5. 3 V12 engine, the four speed gearbox smooth with excellent syncro's and with power steering, sharp brakes and first class suspension the car is an absolute delight to drive. Finished in one of the best colour combinations, this is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a first class V12 Roadster that has been rebuilt by one of the top Jaguar specialists of the 1990's. The quality thirty-six years later is still there to see, and the car is ready to use and enjoy having had £3000 spent on pre sale preparation ahead of arriving with us.
