Description

Land Rover Dormobile 109 1961, first Dormobile 109 produced.

For videos - search "Land Rover Series 2 Dormobile" on YouTube

It will come with a spare correct series 2 good bulkhead , three spare doors and plethora of various other spares to make it a good value restoration package.

Proper Series 2 109 galvanised chassis from Richards is available separately or as a package. Car + Chassis £9000.

The good bits:
- It's one of those projects that actually looks better in real life than on pictures.
- It's extremely original as left in a barn in 1983 with all sorts of life paraphernalia of the time left in the car.
- It has been somewhat dismantled for better assessment of condition but all the parts are there and will come with the car.
- All the right Dormobile bits are there, roof rack, dormatic seats, cupboards, cooker, all the plates and badges, pop up roof is usable as is, bunk beds etc.
- I have repaired all the seat frames and welded all the cracks etc. They are stored in primer.
- Original Elephant hide seat cushions are with the car and will need repair/ recover
- It starts and drives also I wouldn't take it on the road. Gearbox and transfer box are good.
- Freewheeling front hubs
- 1 Ton wheels
- Very honest condition everything is visible, you can see the work in front of you.
- I have accumulated a good number of parts over the years. Good doors, galvanised windscreen surround, various panels etc. It will all come with the car.
- I have fitted a new Clutch cylinder and lines as old one failed on test drive in the field.
- Full kit of brake lines included.
- I have a galvanised chassis made by Richards which took 2 years of waiting (109s S2 are not on shelf) it DOESN'T come with the car and Is available at separate negotiation.
- Spare bulkhead from Australia with surface rust and easy footwells replacements, all straight - now comes with the project. An easy £1500 of value any day.
- V5 etc present and correct
- Can be assembled back together quickly before collection
- Can deliver at cost

Things to note:
- In my view it needs a new chassis, one on it has been patched so many times, had different sections etc.
- Welding required, bulkhead, a, B, c posts , footwells etc. usual places that go on Landies. (Unless you use the spare bulkhead)
- Engine works and sounds sweet and healthyAccording to Land Rover archives in Gaydon Museum this is the first Numbered Martin Walter Dormobile and one of the first batch of Landies to be sent to Martin Walter in the batch the details below - 867. 863 and 864 were built on 16th May and despatched 2 days later. This one the details below was built on 24th May and despatched 26th of May. It was numbered as N1 built (MW 501) even though it wasn't the first one that left Martin Walter.

It's the only one that survives out of that batch. It left the factory in Light Green and it is still in its original colour on the interior. A rare and in indispensable reference what the colour should be.

I've had it for over 10 years now with intention of restoring to go camping with kids but as life has it - it never happened. Time to let someone else have a proper go.
