1969 Ford Escort twin Cam for sale. Full engine rebuild including pistons, Rebore, crank regrind, all new bearing shells, new high pressure oil pump, new oil cooler, valves, springs, valve seats recut, new guides, timing chain and tensioner , engine block chemically cleaned and repainted in correct Lotus grey, correct bigwig sump ultrasonically cleaned and powder coated black, new distributor with period Lucas electronic ignition.
engine rebuilt using all new gaskets and seals. Cylinder head aqua blasted and ultrasonically cleaned and painted in correct Lotus grey. Weber DCOE 40s dismantled and ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt using all new parts.
New Flywheel and uprated clutch fitted along with rebuilt starter motor.
Gearbox completely dismantled and rebuilt with new bearings and bulk rings, all gears and shafts super finished , all castings blasted and ultrasonically cleaned and powder coated . New tailshaft bush fitted and new gaskets and seals fitted.
Rear axle removed and dismantled and rebuilt using new slip diff unit, new crown wheel and pinion and all new bearings and collapsible spacer. Blasted and powder coated in black.
Blasted and powder coated all rear suspension arms and springs, new bushes, new Bilstein shock absorbers, brake back plates plated and brake drums reskimmed, new wheel cylinders and brake shoes, and new handbrake cable.
Front suspension dismantled and new Bilstein suspension legs fitted with new inserts, subframe sandblasted and powder coated, new front brake discs, alloy hub and wheel bearings, new EBC green brake pads, rebuilt all brake and clutch and brake master cylinders, brake calipers zinc plated and rebuilt using new seals.
Front and rear brake hoses replaced, rebuilt brake servo unit and filled with Motul racing brake fluid.
New interior dash top, existing had 2 holes in it, and 2 new door cards fitted.
While engine was removed engine bay was stripped, prepared and painted to match original paintwork.
The car has a period roll cage and the interior is in mint condition.
The car runs and sounds amazing and drives like the car just left the Halewood factory.
The cars bodywork is in great condition and didnt need any attention while the work was carried out.
I have had the car for about 18 months now and think its time to let it go and be used more often.
Its a beautiful example of this sort after car and the is in show condition.
The Twin Cam deep dish wheels and been cleaned, prepared and painted in original Ford colour and have been fitted with new period Pirelli tyres.
The cars has a good history and has been owned by a few rally drivers but not competed.
I have the original green log book and some history of the car.
It has the original Type 49 body shell along with matching numbers engine and gearbox.
The car is registered with the Ford AVO club and if not sold will be taking to the National day event this year.
It has recently been serviced along with a new MOT.
The mechanical work was carried out by H Engineering and done to a high standard as this was his own personal car. I bought the car from the owner of H Engineering in Kent. He was doing some work on my E type.
The Twin Cam was at the back of the workshop and just couldnt believe the detail and condition of the car.
I didnt want another car but couldnt stop thinking about it when i got home.
I bought the car the following day!
