MG SA MG4768
Acquired by the current owner as a part-complete restoration project in 2014 and since fully restored, the MG SA had been with its previous owner, the Chairman of the MG Car Club SVW Register, for over 50 years and was driven by him on a regular basis.
Originally sold by the London MG main dealer at the time, University Motors, MG4768 still retains its original MG registration number, issued by University Motors from a series of MG registrations they had secured from the licensing authority at the time. It also still has its original University Motors dashboard badge.
This is a fine, restored MGSA with great provenance. She’s “on the button”, drives well and is a really imposing car. Inside the leather and wood give the feel of a gentlemen’s club.
The car comes with copies of all the original logbooks. It also has a copy of an advertisement for the car when it was a year old and second-hand in July 1937. There are about 30 tax discs and a similar number of MoT certificates dating back to the 1970s. There is also an amusing AA condition report – amusing due to the poor state of the car highlighted in the report at the time (1959). There are also lots of photos of the car as purchased in 2014 as well as during the restoration since. There are also plenty of invoices for purchases and work done during the restoration.
