1988 Genuine Escort RS Turbo – Big Spec
Selling my big spec escort to partially fund a house extension.
MOT until 1st June 2027 with large history file
Body
• Car was painted a few years ago, inside and outside (except the engine bay). This includes the underside, which was ground back, 2k etch & high build primed, gravitex and painted body colour.
• All rust was cut out and new panels welded in, this included inner and outer sills, rear arches, NOS full rear panel plus plenty of other bits. I have photos of all the work done.
• This is the original shell with all the correct floor stampings etc.
• 90 spec spoiler, front and rear bumper
• Remote Central Locking
Engine:
• Full EFI conversion with Omex 600 Management, running a conservative map at 14 psi
• ZVH 2. 1 Bottom End
• Forged Pistons
• ARP Rod and Head Bolts
• Kent Cam
• Velcro Head Gasket
• Vernia Pulley
• T34 Hybrid Turbo
• GRS Front Mount Intercooler with Twin Fans
• Alloy Radiator
• New Transit Connect Starter
• Bailey Header and Oil Catch Tank
• Scorpion 4” exhaust throughout
• Cambelt and alternator belts changed, new water pump and tensioner
• New Bosch fuel pump
• New fuel line
• New fuel tank
Drivetrain
• New Toyo TR1 Proxes all round
• Standard correct refurbished spare wheel
• Japan Racing 16” wheels – if you don’t like these there are lots of standard wheels on eBay
• All suspension blasted and powder coated with new Powerflex Poly Bushes throughout
• Gaz rear coilovers.
• Avo front coilovers.
• B&M Short Shift (rare)
• New suspension bolt kit fitted with the correct factory painted bolts (yellow and blue)
• Rear brake disc conversion, all new pads discs and callipers
• Cosworth Front brakes with new discs and pads
• Braided brake lines throughout (from the master cylinder all the way to the callipers)
• New Master cylinder
• Rebushed steering column
Interior
• Momo Prototipo Steering wheel, also have the original wheel
• 90 Spec interior
• New 90 spec headlining
• Custom Boost Gauge fitted to Dash surround
• Pioneer head unit with DAB and new speakers.
Probably some other bits that I have missed, essentially everything was replaced, the interior still needs a bit of tidying to the drivers seat bolster.
Please note the mileage has gone round once, so 171, 000 but everything has been replaced.
No timewasters, swaps or dreamers.
Opportunity to buy a very clean and straight RS Turbo, rather then a rusty project car like most.
Awesome car with the reliability of modern EFI rather then the poor MFI they originally came with.
It's a car of the people and gets a HUGE amount of attention every time I drive it, with so many comments on how good it looks and sounds and people always want a chat.
I run it on a low boost, but with a remap there is potential for substantial power.
