Motors Corner presents this 1957 MG A MK1 Roadster for sale: The MG A was produced between 1955 and 1962, and was a commercial success with over 100, 000 units sold, almost all of them for export. Equipped with a 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed gearbox, it was an undeniable aesthetic success that made its mark and turned it into a great classic in the world of car collecting.
Our example presented here is a 1957 American model, equipped with the 4-cylinder 1. 5L engine, imported to France in 2009 by its current owner. Mechanically: The vehicle starts at the first turn of the key. In excellent mechanical condition, the car is sound and drives perfectly, the gears shift smoothly and the braking is up to standard. In 2010, just after its import, the owner undertook to restore all the parts that needed refreshing, a very complete file of invoices is available on request.
In 2010: engine rebuilt, block and crankshaft rectified, cylinder head reconditioned, timing chain changed, brakes rebuilt, radiator, cooling fan added, front axle revised, etc. The shock absorbers were changed in 2017, the 4 tyres in 2019. It has been regularly serviced since its arrival in France. As regards the exterior: The bodywork is in good general condition, the paintwork is fairly well preserved, with a few light chips due to normal use of the car. The painted spoked wheels were fitted in France a few years ago and are in very good condition. The alpaca soft top is of course complete, with side screens, and is in good overall condition. The underbody needs to be rebuilt (the rocker panels and floor pan supports need to be replaced). Inside: The black upholstery is in good overall condition, with a slight patina but no irreversible wear. The dashboard looks very good overall and the instrumentation is complete and functional, apart from the lap counter. The door panels are in perfect condition.
