Among the most iconic pre-war sports cars, the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport wonderfully embodies Vittorio Jano's mechanical genius and Alfa Romeo's golden age of competition success. Direct heir of the P2 Grand Prix, victorious in championships, the 6C 1750 combines light weight, high-performance capabilities and exceptional manufacture craftsmanship.
This remarkably well-preserved example, first registered in March 1929, is dressed in the highly sought-after Zagato bodywork – synonymous with lightweight, streamlined racing cars. Around 1936–1937, it was factory-fitted with a 6C 2300 “Pescara” engine with three carburettors, paired to its suitably adapted gearbox, which further boosted performance. Period improvements, such as an electric fuel pump and a cooling fan, complete the package.
The known history begins with Romeo Paoli in Northeast Africa, where he notably won the Eritrean hill-climb championship in 1954. From the 1960s the car passed through the hands of passionate collectors in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany, before being acquired in 2004 by its current owner.
Displayed in an elegant black-on-black livery, this Alfa Romeo has retained much of its original Zagato bodywork and is today in remarkable condition. Recent mechanical work includes a full engine overhaul by B&F Touring-Garage, as well as an in-depth service by CarXpert in 2022 and 2023. It is accompanied by an exceptional historical dossier, including period photographs, correspondence with former owners, Alfa Romeo reference documents, a FIVA identity card, an FIA historic technical passport, and a copy of its registration in the Alfa Romeo Register.
Offered with Luxembourg registration, this 6C 1750 Super Sport bodied by Zagato – which has competed in several Mille Miglia Storica editions – represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic and sought-after Alfas of its era. It is a unique specimen, with its original Zagato bodyshell and certified by the Mille Miglia Registro. It is fully eligible and ready to take part in the 2026 Mille Miglia.
