Originally launched in 1929 as an evolution of the 6C 1500, winner of the Mille Miglia in 1928, the 6C 1750 enjoyed a very fortunate racing career, including a 1-2-3 hat-trick at the Mille Miglia, with Tazio Nuvolari's winning car averaging over 100 km/ h.
The 6C 1750 also achieved excellent placings at the Targa Florio, the Tourist Trophy, and the 24 Hours of Spa in the early 1930s.
The Sport and the Super Sport were produced for only two years, and many 6Cs were built with sporting saloon (berlina sportiva) and coupé bodies.
Our Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 was built in 1931 with a Torpedo body and was sold new in Milan to Mr Aldo Besnati on 6 March 1935, who then kept it for Mr Rotondi of Milan, probably a dealer.
On 30 March 1935 the car was sold again to Mr Luigi Guarnaschelli of Piacenza and changed plates to 5042-PC (the same plate it carries today).
After the war, in 1949, the car received a restyle of the coachwork. The new body was made by Carrozzeria Ferranti of Rome, the one it still carries today.
The car still retains the original registration plate, and the engine is still the same.
Over the years the braking system has been replaced, switching to hydraulic.
In 2019 the car underwent major maintenance and the engine was completely rebuilt by a specialist in Italy.
In June 2024 the car was again rebuilt in preparation for the Vernasca Silver Flag.
This is a rare opportunity to own a truly collectible vehicle with a well-documented history and perhaps one of the most sought-after Alfa Romeos that inspired Enzo Ferrari to build his legendary empire.
